A farmer and merchant before the War, he enrolled as 2nd Lieutenant, Company A, 18th Georgia Infantry on 1 April 1861. He was elected First Lieutenant on 5 June 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain on 5 March 1863. Captured at Knoxville, Tennessee December 19, 1863. Released at Fort Delaware, Delaware June 12, 1865.

After the War

He was a banker, farmer, and merchant in Acworth, GA.
