Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 29 year old farmer near Hickory Grove in Crawford County, GA. He enlisted there on 8 March 1862 as a Private in Company E, 6th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He died from wounds in the Smoketown (Antietam) Federal field hospital near the battlefield later in September 1862. His widow Malinda filed for his final pay in July 1863.
