From Baker County, he enlisted as First Sergeant, Company H, 6th Georgia Infantry on 27 May 1861 in Atlanta. He was elected Junior 2nd (or 3rd) Lieutenant on 15 January 1862 and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant by August.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
