He was wounded in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 October 1863 and in the Wilderness, VA about 5 May 1864. He was killed in action on 13 September 1864 "in trenches" near Petersburg, VA.
