From Lenoir County, age 29, he enlisted on 17 April 1861 in Company C, 27th North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the hand in action on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was wounded twice more, in the left hand (losing his index finger) at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 October 1863, and in the right arm and mouth at Reams' Station, VA on 25 August 1864.
After the War
He was a farmer living in LaGrange, Lenoir County, NC in 1885.
