He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was wounded in the left leg in action at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864 and had his leg amputated. He retired to the Invalid Corps on 5 November 1864. Paroled at Greensboro on 4 May 1865.
