He enlisted in Company D on 16 May 1861. Promoted to Corporal on 22 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the thigh in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

Reduced to Private rior to October 1863. Captured at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 October 1863. Held at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC, transferred to Point Lookout, MD on 27 October, and died there of gangrene about 15 December 1864.
