Before Sharpsburg

He was a farmer before he enlisted in Company F on 16 May 1861. He was discharged on 16 July 1862 for being overage at 35. He reenlisted in the Company on 18 August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the shoulder in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Captured in action at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 October 1863. and held at the Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC until transferred to Point Lookout, MD on 27 October 1863. Paroled and transferred to Aiken’s Landing, VA on 24 February 1865 for exchange.
