Before Sharpsburg
A 19 year old mechanic in Forsyth County, he enlisted in Company K, 48th North Carolina Infantry on 8 March 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded by gunshot to the chest in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 4 October but died there of his wounds on 16 November 1862 at age 20.
