Arva Owen Austin

From Turtle, he enlisted in Company G, 6th Wisconsin Infantry on 10 June 1861.

He was listed as a deserter on 13 September 1862, but a letter of 24 November 1862 from Levi B. Raymond, Corporal, Company G to a Wisconsin newspaper mentions that Austin transferred to the US (Regular) Army in September.

He married in Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales in 1865, and probably lived there until about 1870, when he returned to Wisconsin. He was in Newel, IA 1873-79, Sioux City (where he was a constable) 1880-87, and then in Topeka, KS to 1900. He lived in Denison, TX until moving to Los Angeles, CA in 1911.
