From Brookville, he enlisted in Company I, 6th Wisconsin Infantry on 1 June 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Wounded again at Fitzhugh's Crossing, VA and mortally at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He died of wounds on 17 July 1863.
