He enlisted in Elmira in Company F, 23rd New York Infantry on 6 May 1861 at age 20.

On the Campaign

He was detached for service with Battery B, 4th US Artillery and was with them when mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds, place and date not known.
