Before Sharpsburg

He came with his family from Mississippi to Texas in about 1844 and was a 23 year old farmer on his father's place in Gonzales County, when he enlisted there as a Private in Company A, 4th Texas Infantry on 18 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was listed as a deserter on 13 December 1863 with no further military record.

After the War

By 1870 he was raising stock on his own place in Gonzales. In 1880 he was a hotel keeper in Oakville, Live Oak County, TX and was in that business in Beeville, Bee County at the time of his death.
