Before Antietam
He was a 26 year old wheelwright in Schuyler Falls. Four months after his wife Delia died he left his infant son with his mother Sally, enlisted in Plattsburg, and mustered as Private, Company C, 16th New York Infantry on 25 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Crampton's Gap not quite three weeks later on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was reinterred in the new National Cemetery about 1867.
