Before Antietam
Age 19, he enlisted on 6 August 1862 in West Chester, and mustered as Captain of Company F, 124th Pennsylvania Infantry on 11 August in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and helped wounded Sergeant William Potts from the field.
The rest of the War
He mustered out with his Company on 16 May 1863.
