Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a married 28 year old farmer at Randolph in Bibb County, AL. He enlisted there on 14 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 44th Alabama Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He left his regiment on 18 September and was admitted to CS General Hospital #3 in Richmond on 26 September and transferred to Howard's Grove Hospital on 28 December. He died there of variola confluens - complications from smallpox (+ wound?) on 7 January 1863.
