Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 40 year old carpenter at Tallahassee in Leon County, FL. He enlisted at Camp Anderson (or Leon) near Tallhassee on 4 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 5th Florida Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 9 September, left behind, and captured there on the 12th.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 22 September and afterward paroled and transferred for exchange. He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 15 October and sent to the parole camp there on 18 October 1862. He was later absent, sick, and returned to his company in March or April 1863. He was absent sick in May and June 1864, and again in October, the latest record in his military file.
After the War
By 1870 he was a farm worker in Richland Township, Beaufort County, NC.
