Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an 18 year old living with his parents and 10 siblings on their small farm at Magnolia in Clinch County, GA. He enlisted at Camp Brown near Savannah, GA on 5 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company G of the 50th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot and captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent to U. S. Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD and died there of wounds on 1 October 1862.
