Before Sharpsburg

He was a clerk in Atlanta before the war and was appointed Captain of Company A, 19th Georgia Infantry on 11 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He took command of the regiment at Second Manassas in absence of all the field officers, again briefly just before the Maryland campaign, and after the Antietam battle at the skirmish at the Potomac crossing near Shepherdstown.

The rest of the War

He resigned his commission in the 19th Georgia on 1 June 1863 and was commissioned Captain and Assistant Quartermaster, CSA on 24 September 1863 and assigned to the staff of General Howell Cobb. He was detailed to the post of Atlanta on 2 February 1865 with no further record.
