Unit history

Please note that the Legion was a "Combined Arms" unit, meaning it was composed of Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery components. Although organized and raised together in August 1861, these organizations never actually fought together as one command, but were more or less independent units. In Cobb's Legion, these were:

the Infantry Battalion
the Cavalry Battalion,
and the Troup Battery.
See these units' listings for more information.
