Unit history

One of the two batteries formed in Fluvanna County, Virginia, in the Spring of 1861.

On the Sharpsburg Campaign

This battery was in reserve, on the Virginia side of the ford on the Potomac just below Shepherdstown, for the later part of the Campaign. They lost one gun and a caisson at the skirmish at Shepherdstown on September 19, 1862.

The 1st and 2nd (Ancell's) Fluvanna Batteries were consolidated in early October 1862 into one unit.
