On the Sharpsburg Campaign

Part of the Artillery Reserve of the Army, they were attached to D.H. Hill's Division by 11 September 1862 and were in action at Frostown Gap on South Mountain on the 14th. They went to Sharpsburg the next day and were sent to General Jackson at the Dunkard Church. They were posted north of the church and west of the Hagerstown Pike early on 17 September, fought in Mumma's Cornfield late that morning, then were positioned on Hauser's Ridge to the west of the West Woods that afternoon and through the 18th.
