On the Sharpsburg Campaign
The battery, along with the others of their battalion, were in action from positions near Bolivar Heights at Harpers Ferry on 14 and 15 September 1862. They remained at the Ferry on the 16th, after it was surrendered, and marched early on 17 September to Sharpsburg. They were in action there along the Harpers Ferry Road at the extreme right of the Confederate line. They returned to Virginia by way of Boteler's Ford on the evening on 18 September and the section of their rifled guns was in action there on the 19th, taking their only casualties of the campaign, from Federal counter-battery fire from across the Potomac River.
