Before Sharpsburg
From Iredell County, he enlisted there on 1 August 1862 as Private, Company C, 48th North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
His arm was amputated but he died of his wounds in Shepherdstown, VA on 22 September 1862.
