Unit history
The unit was recruited from Henderson, Jackson, Haywood, Cherokee, Transylvania, Clay, Macon, and Buncombe Counties, NC. It served in the Carolinas until June 1862, when it began service in Virginia with the ANV, Ransom's Brigade. It fought at the Seven Days battles and at 2nd Manassas.
