Disbanded/Mustered out: Appomattox Court House, VA 9 April 1865

Commanding Officer on the Sharpsburg Campaign:
  LCol. S. M. Manning*

This Regiment's Chain of Command:
Army - Army of Northern Virginia
  Corps - Jackson's Command
  Division - A. P. Hill's Light Division
  Brigade - Thomas' Brigade

On the Sharpsburg Campaign

Like the rest of Thomas' Brigade, the 49th Georgia was at Harpers Ferry 15-16 September 1862, though in reserve and not actively engaged there, and remained behind while the rest of the division went to Sharpsburg early on the 17th. They rejoined the army at Shepherdstown on September 19 and were in action there on the 20th.

* Lieutenant Colonel Seaborn M. Manning is listed in command in Maryland but was mortally wounded at Cedar Mountain, VA in August and died 9 September 1862. The next senior man was Major Samuel Thomas Player (1817-1884; born Samuel Thomas FLeetwood, raised by Player family, legally changed his surname in 1837) but it's not certain he was on the Campaign.
