On the Sharpsburg Campaign

E.A. Carman has Captain George W. Warthen as taking command after Captain Garrison was wounded, but Warthan had been wounded previously and only rejoined the regiment on its return from Maryland; he was not at Sharpsburg. Lt. James Banning actually succeeded Captain Garrison.1
