Unit history

The Regiment first served in the Department of the Peninsula, then with Wright's (later Sorrel's) Brigade in the Army of Northern Virginia through all of it's campaigns to Appomattox.

On the Sharpsburg Campaign

The regiment was on the Maryland Campaign, but first saw action mid-morning on 17 September in what became known as Bloody Lane. Due to extensive straggling and combat losses before the battle, the regiment may have had as few as 60 men present for duty on the field at Sharpsburg.
